National Nail Polish Day & Barefoot Day – June 1
The first day of June is both nail polish day and go barefoot day. If you have a daughter, I think that sounds like a perfect day for an at-home pedicure party! Especially when it comes to the toes, I’ve let my daughter practice on me all she wants. Your toes are normally hidden and if not, that’s what polish remover is for.
National Heimlich Maneuver Day – June 1
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been afraid I would have to perform this on one of my children! It never hurts to review the technique. Here’s a quick YouTube video to remind you.
Say Something Nice Day – June 1
We can all say some “thing” nice every single day. That’s not a stretch. Instead, involve your kids and only say nice things today. I love this list of 64 encouraging things to say to your children. It’s a good one to print and have handy every day of the year. In the hustle of morning madness, I forget to say loving things that make a huge difference.
Rotisserie Chicken Day & Rocky Road Day – June 2
Boom! And just like that dinner is done.
National Gardening Exercise Day – June 6
Apparently, you can burn up to 300 calories in one hour of gardening. If gardening is your thing here are some tips on how to increase the exercise benefit.

National Yo-Yo Day – June 6
Kids can be entertained for quite a while trying to learn how to use a yo-yo. If you don’t know how to teach them, here’s a beginner video to do the teaching for you.
Best Friends Day – June 8
This one always gets a lot of play on social media. But for your kids, it would be sweeter to take your kids and their bestie out for ice cream or for a movie.
National Children’s Day – Second Sunday in June
My parents never told me about this one. I always wanted a kid day. Now that I’m a parent, I realize every day is children’s day. I’m not sure my children will find out about it either!
National Peanut Butter Cookie Day – June 12
Few kids don’t love peanut butter cookies. The best part is that they are super easy to make so you and your kids can make them together. Here is a recipe with just 3 ingredients.
Nature Photography Day – June 15
Take the kids on a nature walk and brush up on your photography skills using your iPhone alone.
Global Garbage Man Day – June 17
If your trash is picked up on this day, consider letting your kids give the workers a Gatorade or water bottle or snack. Kids love to do this and it encourages giving and kindness that they will begin to do on their own.
Selfie Day – June 21
I don’t know a kid that doesn’t love selfies. Even if they don’t have their own phone, they love using mom’s phone and taking selfies. To make today more fun, download an app like Pici Booth that lets you take your selfies and put them into photo-booth strips.
National Pink Day – June 23
If you have a girl, this would be fun to celebrate. Depending on her age, read Pinkalicious while you’re at it. If you have a boy – good luck!
National Handshake Day – Last Thursday in June
Every child should be taught how to properly shake hands. Recently I shook hands with a teenage boy who was introducing himself at a banquet. He was very polite and his handshake was firm but he used the wrong hand. It was very awkward.
Social Media Day – June 30
Why is this a “day” when it is social media day every day? But I know my kids love it when we get on my Snapchat account and are silly. In fact, I use Snapchat to connect with my kids. The filters and funny voices keep kids engaged with you.
