The world increasingly feels like a scary place. We see natural disasters, violence, and disease on the news everyday. And lately, we see daily reports of mass shootings. Feeling hopeless and helpless is easy when faced with all this violence and chaos.
We are currently coming off another string of mass shootings in America. Each morning when I see the headlines of a tragic death in the “Land of the Free,” I ask God, “How much longer, Lord? Jesus, come.”
I turn to His Word for comfort. Although I don’t understand His ways, I trust Him. I find a few scriptures to hold onto and repeat in times of trouble.
So read on for some scriptures that will encourage you when the world feels scary. And at the end, make sure to get the free download so you can remind your heart of God’s truth throughout the days.

what does the Bible say about fear
The Bible acknowledges that fear is a natural human emotion. It’s something we all experience at some point in our lives. God promises to walk with us through our fear. To do this, we need to trust in God and focus on His strength and power rather than our own.
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Psalm 118:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
It can be tough to know what to do when we’re feeling scared or worried. But we don’t have to face our fears alone – we can bring them to God in prayer, and He will give us the peace that surpasses understanding.
