Learning Matthew 22:37-39 with Your Children
The child’s memory verse for the letter Y is from Matthew 22:37-39. It’s a long one this time, but we are almost at the end so I hope your children have it in them.
Note: This post is part of a 26 part series where to help you memorize Bible Verses with your kids. Each post contains 4 elements: a scripture, a video (song), a printable, and teaching. (and sometimes a weekly tip!) There are 26 Bible verses – one for each letter of the alphabet. You can check out the whole series here or just enjoy the resources for memorizing Matthew 22:37-39 below!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
You can always choose to learn just the first verse, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with your mind.”
This shortened version might be easier for your kiddos. This should come easily to them if you are following the whole series because we learned a very similar verse with the “L” verse of Mark 12:30.

Tune for Matthew 22:37-39
We’re back to a kid-friendly video to aid in memorization this week. Your kids should like this one and it should help them learn it pretty quickly.

If you’re up to it, here’s an easy lesson you can do with your kids to reinforce the meaning of the bible verse. Plus they can drink kool-aid afterward.
The video for this week does a good job explaining the meaning to children as well so you may not feel it’s necessary to incorporate a separate lesson.
ABC Bible Series
The whole series can be found here. For each letter of the alphabet, we are learning a new verse with a free printable, and a YouTube video to enhance learning. It’s a nice bedtime routine and easy – my kids learned these 26 verses using this technique.
