What the Bible Says About Truth

What is truth? Do you have your own truth and I have “my” truth? Although we think this is the way the world is today, this “my truth” vs “your truth” was something Pilate referred to when judging Jesus. In John 18:38 Pilate said, “What is truth?”

As Christ-followers, there is no question as to what is truth. We follow the Word of God and what He says is truth is THE truth. Here are multiple verses about the truth and the truthfulness of God.

The Truthfulness of God

As Christians, we believe that God is truthful in everything He says. His Word is a trustworthy source of guidance for our lives.

Living by God’s truth is not always easy, as our sinful nature can lead us astray. However, when we surrender our lives to Christ, He gives us the strength to live according to His truth.

Following Jesus is always worth it. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). When we follow Him, we experience the abundant life that He came to give us (John 10:10). We also have the hope of eternal life with Him (John 3:16).

Ultimately, following Jesus is the best decision we can make in our lives.

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. -John 8:32

The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. -Psalm 145:18

But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
 -Romans 2:8

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. -John 15:26

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. -2 Timothy 2:15

If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
