Stories to read in the bible when God is present during uncertain times

The entire Bible is one big story of God’s love for his people, rescuing them from scary, uncertain times and ultimately death through his son, Jesus.

Although the verses above are wonderful to have tucked in your heart when you’re facing uncertainty in life, it’s also beneficial to open up your Bible and read stories of how God has brought real people out of unpredictable times to victory.

A couple of great examples of God being present during uncertainty include:

  1. The Book of Esther. Although God is not specifically mentioned, His hand is with Esther, and the Jewish people throughout this book tucked into the Old Testament. The Jewish people faced certain death, but through a series of unlikely events that only God could masterfully unfold, the Jewish people come out on top.
  2. The Story of Joseph (Genesis 37-50). Joseph faced many scary events that, if they happened to us, we might question if God was really on our side: being sold into slavery, being accused of sexual assault, prisoned for ten years. Yet, when reading Joseph’s story in Genesis 37-50, you will see God’s hand on Joseph’s life each step of the way.

Of course, there are so many more stories and Bible verses in the Bible to comfort you during this time of hardship.

But hopefully, you’ve found something to set your heart on Jesus.

Because as Max Lucado says, “Feed your fears and your faith will starve. Feed your faith, and your fears will.”
